Performance
After years of continued powertrain refinement, the 2026 Kia Sportage manages to create a long-lasting impression for anyone who gets behind the wheel. Its standard 2.5L 4-cylinder engine is able to produce 187 horsepower and 178 lb.-ft. of torque, which makes it a balanced model in terms of how it gets up to speed as the way it maintains it when driving through the Amstutz Expressway. Its powertrain won’t have to work too hard thanks to the pairing with a standard 8-speed automatic transmission, allowing this vehicle to continue cruising at recommended highway velocities while simultaneously maintaining low rev ranges. Ultimately, such efficient power management leads to a 24/30/26 MPG city/hwy/combined5 estimated fuel economy rating. The Sportage’s strength is also what is behind its 3,500-lb. maximum towing capacity6, giving you a wide range of camping gear to haul along with you during nature escapes.
Cabin
Unlike other models in its class, the Kia Sportage affords nearly identical amounts of legroom to its front and rear passengers. Those occupying the cockpit are treated to 41.4 inches of legroom, while riders in the back have 41.3 inches to utilize, respectively. Space of this scale will lead to less fuss about who gets to sit where before heading to the Waukegan History Museum at the Carnegie. There’s also 39.6 cubic ft. of cargo volume behind the rear seats, a plentiful amount for trips to the grocery store post-afternoon activities. Thanks to the optional X-Line/X-Pro Syntex seat trim, any juicebox spills can be cleaned up relatively quickly and easily.
